Expedition preparations and shittalk

Hi, againg, or just hi, known or unknown fellow. I havent posted anything at uasfaltert for quite a while now, mostly because i have struggled a disease called city rat. This means i have allmost not touched a tree or a tent this period.
Actually, it havent been that bad at all... have a lot of good friends who's also staying a lot downtown.

As you probably have noticed this post is in english. I am having a english mock exam on wednesday this week, so i thought it would be nice with some practice, hehe...
This is also a pretty good preparation for the day where i and Uasfaltert gets world famous, with a lot of international readers (probably)..... not. I guess it's more likely that some imortant american stalkernerd reads this..
So enjoy my post, Trump(:

I really should get to the point now!

Okay, so it's april, the anoying snow has finally gone away and there is not a long time until the summer, the season where expeditions is kind of comfortable, and long vacations takes place.
Of course i'm going on a hike!

This time the trip goes to Lofoten, in the northern Norway. I will spend a whole week traveling alone in theese mountains, before Natur og Ungdoms summer camp and i am looking extremely forward to it!

There is a lot of planning which should be done for trips like these and today i am going to show you how i usually do some of the planning. I really don't have the time to do this post as complementary as it should or as many of my other posts is, but something is better than nothing i guess.

Expedition preparation

So, i wil try to focus on the "not obvious" parts of the preparation and do it all very quick without a lot of text, but with a document to explain.
(i am very sorry that the document is in norwegian.)

A really good tip: Start planning your trip long before it actually starts. It is very useful to have completely nerded all the maps, the transport and everrything else you'll use on tour trip.

What to bring on your trip?

All serious travelers need a list of what they need to pack before a trip. personally i like to make my own list, so that i bring what i need, and not what someone else usually brings. I really recomend everyone t make their own list. you can see my example on a list like this below. This list is very detailed and has information about equipment, and their weight, food and calories. it also shows you what you really need on a hike, and what is just enterainment etc. have a look(:

Lets say you have chosen your destination, made a packing list and picked out some dates you want to spend in the nature.
If that's the case you should to follow these steps:

1. you will have to (as i said) nerd the maps. use a lot of time on this. You have to figure out how long the whole hike is and if you will make it at the time you want to, you should decide aproximately where your camps will be (it needs to be freshwater in the camp area) and find a main route and alternative routes (including ways to get yourself back to civilisation if needed).

2. You have to find a way to get to the startingpoint and home from final destination. Do not use your car since that will make you have to return to where you started. Make a travelplan with timetabels, ticketprices etc and sum up the expenditures.

3. make an exerciseplan for how you're going to work out before the trip. it is important to be in a good shape before a hike, so that you don't get injurues or burn out during the trip. I had my first hike-orientated workout this year yesterday.

From my workout-hike yesterday(:

A good way to work out is walking for some hours in steep terrain with a heavy backpack, just like you will do on your hike. this gives you the tough, long lasting fitness you want.

good hikeplanning!
